Course Descriptions
1 – Introduction to Technology
The tools needed to run an online business already exist mostly on your own computer. Detailed instruction in Microsoft Windows or MAC OS, the differences between Web Browsers and how they work, basic instruction in video and audio file formats and necessary file readers, and detailed video training in Microsoft Word and Excel are all critical to an understanding of the basic technologies needed to build and run a successful online business.
2 – Introduction to Business
This Course begins with instruction in properly setting up a legal business, and continues into basic Bookkeeping. A continuous understanding of cash flow, expenses, receivables, and cost of goods sold are needed so that you have a clear picture of your business’s profitability. This allows you to pay yourself correctly without compromising the cash flow of the business.
3 – ECommerce Basics
There are many “moving parts” in an Ecommerce business, and new business owners easily become confused as to what they should be doing and when. This Course is an outline of the first year of a typical Ecommerce business; what to expect to be doing and when to expect to be doing it.
4 – Time Management
Most people waste a tremendous amount of time because their communication and scheduling methods are scattered and disconnected. This Time Management Course allows you to gain up to an additional 500 hours of usable time per year by organizing the way you processes scheduling and information.
5 – Market Research
Deciding what to sell online is often the hardest decision for a new business owner. This Course teaches you how to use existing information sources to drill down into a product niche, and continues into keyword research, competitive analysis, comparative pricing, future marketing costs, demographics and more. By the end of this Course, you will have correctly chosen a product niche that your research in this Course has proven to be a highly profitable market that you can own.
6 – Understanding Supply Chains
A clear understanding of how manufacturers and wholesalers operate in the supply chain is critical to the success of any retail business. This Course details the inner workings of the types of suppliers that you will be working with in the course of running your new business. Suppliers can also be of great benefit to a business owner who knows how to interact with them; you will learn to create a relationship with critical suppliers in order to make the most of those available benefits.
7 – Keyword Research
There are many different kinds of keywords, and they all do different things. However, they all work together when it comes to website SEO and in developing Marketing Content. Understanding exactly how keywords work, what the different types are, and how to use them is the key to successful content marketing, which is at the core of the successful ranking of an Ecommerce website. In this Course, you will learn all different keyword types, how they work together, and will extensively research and create a Master Keyword Spreadsheet which will provide the core of all the marketing material that will be created for the lifetime of your business.
8 – Working with Graphics
Online marketing is a very visual process. Building graphics for your website, social media and marketing is simply a step-by-step formula, one clearly defined step at a time. It’s just using free or inexpensive stock images and clip art and combining them in ways that move people’s eyes from one point to the next through a sale. From aesthetics to the psychology of color to mastering Photoshop through detailed video courses, you’ll be turning out expert-level marketing graphics yourself by the time you finish this Course. During this Course, we’ll prepare your Product images for your website. Then we’ll create your identity package, which is your site name, tagline and logo. Then you’ll learn to create pro-level graphics for your social media and marketing, which is a huge part of the success of your business.
9 – Creating Marketing Content
Creating Marketing Content means creating written material. Articles, social media, blog posts, even the category and product descriptions on your website are part of your marketing. Just like Graphics, writing marketing content is just a formula. Anybody can do it like a pro when they learn how to do it right. The search engines judge marketing material on the quality of its content, so that content must be done right. Learning to do this right is not rocket science, and you don’t have to be a writer. You’ll learn to build content in a way that absolutely captivates your audience. At the same time, you’ll learn how to build SEO into your written content. That’s critical in order to get those page one rankings in the search engines.
10 – Site Design
The layout and design of a successful Ecommerce site comes from the product line it sells. The color palette and look & feel of the pages start with the product itself, and with Demographic information learned from the Market Research Course. Converting visitors to sales depends on proper use of Professionalism, Legitimacy, Engagement, Action and Closure elements into the site’s pages. In this Course, you will learn how to do these things and to complete the actual layouts for the Home, Category, Product and Information pages of your website.
11 – Working with Web Pages
Ecommerce business owners have two choices; either pay at least $10,000 for a properly built Ecommerce site or learn to build that site properly themselves. In this Course, you will will learn the differences between Ecommerce Store platforms; what works and what doesn’t. Then we’ll work through detailed video instruction to learn some basic HTML and CSS, and the CMS template modification strategies that are critical to saving a tremendous amount of money and taking complete control of your ECommerce Store.
12 – ECommerce Store Building
This is where the actual build of the Student’s Ecommerce Store takes place. You will learn to take the general page layouts created in a previous Course and build out the rest of the web site and create proper navigation and usability.
13 – SEO
Search Engine Optimization is a critical part of the marketing success of an Ecommerce web site. In this Course, you’ll learn the “mechanics” of SEO; how and where to place keywords and key phrases so that they’re picked up properly by the search engine and contribute successfully to the overall ranking of the site.
14 – Social Marketing
Social Marketing is the other half of the required marketing needed for an Ecommerce site to succeed. In this Course, you will learn to set up and use the Social Media platforms needed to begin Social Marketing. These are critical delivery platforms used to distribute the Content that you create for marketing. You’ll also learn Email Marketing in this Course.
15 – Google Analytics
Google has a whole suite of really powerful tools called Google Search Console. They’re the best tools out there, and they’re free. Google really wants authoritative, focused sites to show the people who use their search engine, and they help us tweak our sites and content to make them better. One of those tools, Google Analytics, is incredibly powerful at analyzing your site traffic, identifying your best keywords, showing you which pages need more marketing, and showing you how people are behaving on your site. That allows you to make minor changes that help you bring in more traffic and make more sales. In this Course we’ll go through detailed video training in how to use Google Analytics, and then we’ll install it on your site.
16 – Online Store Operations
In Online store operations, you’ll learn to deal with your order and delivery processes as well as Customer Service. Receiving orders from your Customers, placing them with your Suppliers, handling backorders and returns…these are all things that are a part of your Operations. Remember, you will not be handling physical products. When you first start out in business, you’ll be using drop shipping, so that you don’t have to lay out money up front and you don’t have to waste a lot of time storing, packing and shipping products. The drop shipper will do that for you.
17 – PPC Advertising
PPC (Pay Per Click) Advertising is something you can do if you choose, but don’t need to do. Content Marketing, as taught in this Education, is far more powerful and costs no money whatsoever to create. However, some people do prefer to mix a little PPC in with their marketing, and for that reason we teach PPC in this Course.
18 – Launching Your Site
In Launching Your Site, you’ll do a final “pre-flight” check on everything in your site, connect your merchant account so that people can pay you, and you’ll launch the Site, the Blog, and all the social media at the same time. Everything interconnected with everything else. That is the best possible first impression you can make on a search engine, and that means ranking and it means sales. At this point, you’ve learned the business, you’ve built the business, and you know how to run the business. Now you can make real money in Online Business.
